J.J. Spaun Closes Hard at Wentworth to Win the BMW PGA Championship
Four birdies in his last five holes carried the Srixon staffer to 17-under and his first Rolex Series title — in his first trip to Wentworth.
J.J. Spaun picked a good week to play his best golf. In his first appearance at the BMW PGA Championship, the Srixon staffer closed at 17-under to take one of the DP World Tour’s biggest titles at Wentworth — a debut that ended with him holding the trophy.
He did it on the way home. Spaun birdied four of his last five holes, the sort of finishing stretch that turns a good week into a winning one. The pick of them came at the par-3 14th, where he hit his approach to inside five feet and rolled it in.
It’s his second win of 2026 and the first Rolex Series title of his career — a real marker for a player the release describes as an elite ball-striker. “This means so much,” Spaun said afterward. “I’ve kind of blossomed into this player that I never thought I could be...the stars kind of aligned this week for me to come out on top.”
His setup stayed in the family: Srixon ZXi5 in the 4-iron with ZXi7s from 5 through pitching wedge, a Cleveland wedge trio of an RTX ZipCore 50, an RTZ 54 and an RTX 6 ZipCore 60, and a Srixon Z-STAR DIAMOND ball.
