Playing Lessons · On the Course
Your coach plays the round with you — all 9 holes, one-on-one with Coach Justin Hood at Muskegon Community College Golf Course. You’ll work club selection, course strategy, and shot decisions in real time, where range practice finally turns into lower scores.
A Different Kind of Lesson
You can groove a perfect swing on the range and still lose strokes the moment you’re standing over a real shot — an uneven lie, wind in your face, water left, a number that’s between clubs. A playing lesson trains the part of golf the range can’t: decisions. Your coach walks every hole with you, reading each situation as it happens and coaching you through the choice — which club, which target, when to play safe, when to go.
You finish the round having practiced golf the way you actually play it.
Coaching on the shot in front of you — not a drill in a vacuum.
The thinking that separates good ball-strikers from low scorers.
You remember the par-4 where you finally played it smart far longer than a range tip.
Your Instructor
Justin has spent his life in the game — a junior player who went on to serve as an Assistant Golf Professional at Spring Lake Country Club, and today coaches the Spring Lake boys high school team while working toward his PGA certification. He works with golfers across the Muskegon area, Norton Shores and Grand Haven included.
On the course, his coaching is calm and practical — clear reads, simple decisions, and strategy you can actually repeat the next time you play without a coach beside you. The goal isn’t to overhaul your swing mid-round; it’s to help you score with the game you’ve got.
On Every Hole
Most golfers don’t lose strokes because of their swing — they lose them through course management, distance control, and trouble. A playing lesson targets exactly that, on every hole.
How to plan a hole, pick the smart target, and avoid the big number — the strategy that drops scores without changing your swing.
Dialing in the right club for the real shot — slope, wind, lie, and the gaps between your clubs.
Playing from awkward lies, escaping trouble, and choosing the safe miss when it matters.
A repeatable pre-shot routine and the on-course composure to play your game under pressure.
Every Level Plays
A playing lesson meets you wherever your game is — and builds from there.

The Complete Path
The fastest improvement comes from doing both: refine your mechanics where you can measure them — indoors on the simulator with real shot data, or outdoors on the range — then take that game to the course and learn to use it under real conditions.
Lessons build the swing; the playing lesson teaches you how to score with it. Do them together and the gains stick.
