Since becoming a PGA Golf Professional, elected in the fall of 2017, Derek Thornberry has been actively involved in growing the game of golf, and golf Instruction has always been a key part of this. With experience at high level teaching academies such as The Boyne Golf Academy, John Webster Golf Academy of Palm Beach, and GolfTec, he has adapted a teaching philosophy that is sure to help improve your game from tee to green.
Derek’s teaching philosophy consists of handling fundamentals of the golf swing, as well as swing mechanics. One of the most important concepts Derek likes to promote in the learning environment is the idea that consistent goal setting will help you see how progress is being made. Derek will adapt his teaching style to help you learn at your own pace, regardless of your age or skill level. Derek wants to help you embrace individual golf lessons as a great one-on-one opportunity to really learn how to play the game of golf better.
Learn how to play golf from a real pro. Andrew attended Michigan State University with an athletic scholarship. After competing successfully at the Division 1 level for four years, Andrew realized he could take his game to the net level and become a professional golfer.
Andrew has won four times at a professional level and has qualified for six PGA tour events. As he continues his playing career, he is taking a step in a different direction in-between tournaments by passing along his knowledge of the game and swing.
While playing is his passion, Andrew feels that giving lessons and teaching is the best way to grow the game. As a teacher/instructor, Andrew wants to make the game of golf as simple as possible for everyone who picks up the the club. A graduate of Ferris State University Professional Golf Management program Ted was an Assistant Golf Professional & Associate Professional for 11 years at Oakland Hills Country Club. Following the 2004 Ryder Cup Ted was fortunate to be named the Head Professional at Muskegon Country Club. A position he held for 10 years before accepting the Head Professional position at Kent Country Club. Currently focused on helping student-athletes achieve their full potential.
